En Route
Fragrance notes
Character
En Route opens with a blast of pineapple and green apple so sharp and candied they nearly slice through the pink pepper’s fizzy bite. The bergamot keeps things from tipping into fruit-salad territory, but this is a sweet, playful start that feels more like a glossy shopping mall than a forest trail. As the heart emerges, leather creeps in like a well-worn jacket left hanging next to a jasmine vine in full bloom. The floral note is surprisingly unisex and powdery, not indolic, which keeps the composition from getting too animalic despite the ambergris base.
Where does it go? Into a mossy, earthy patchouli and oakmoss drydown that smells like damp soil after a summer shower. The ambergris adds a faint salty warmth, but it’s barely a whisper. This is a fragrance that tries to be both a juicy day trip and a dark woody chypre, and the result is a pleasant but confused hybrid. I picture a half-eaten apple dropped onto a leather car seat under a tree. It’s natural enough up top but feels synthetic in the midsection, a niche attempt that lands closer to designer accessibility.
The numbers tell the real story. Longevity sits just above three, sillage barely reaches three. You will need to respray. Perfect for a sunny spring afternoon, a daytime brunch, or a casual office where you don’t want to announce your arrival. Skip this if you crave bold, leathery beasts or deep resinous chypres. En Route is a lighthearted flirtation with both worlds, and it never commits to either.
