Fragrance notes
Character
This opens with a tart, green snap of galbanum and mandarin, like slicing into an unripe fruit. Osmanthus adds a jammy, apricot-like furriness while ylang-ylang introduces a creamy floral sweetness. Within minutes, the heart erupts into a dense clump of white flowers: tuberose, gardenia, lily, orange blossom, night-blooming cereus, all dusted with orris root’s pale powder. It is a greenhouse at dusk in October, the air thick and sticky with blossoms and damp earth just before the heater clicks on. The base settles into a soft, woody-ambered hum of tolu balsam, oakmoss, and sandalwood, with vetiver lending a faint rooty bitterness. It feels natural but in a deliberately old-dream way, like a pressed bouquet tucked into the pages of a 1994 issue of Vogue.
The powder and tuberose dominate. It is sweet but not cloying, grounded by green and earthy notes, and the sillage and longevity are polite rather than committed: a three-and-a-half-hour affair that sits close after the first hour. That makes it best for daytime wear in cooler weather, a cozy lunch or an afternoon errand when you want a floral without shouting. It suits someone who loves classic white floral chypres with a velvety, makeup-like finish. Anyone who finds powdery white flowers stuffy or past-prime should skip it. It has no regrets, but it also has no edge.
