Our take

You stand in a high-ceilinged gallery during a vernissage, the air conditioned but humming with quiet conversation. Absinto Royale sits on your skin like a deliberate choice rather than an accident. The opening arrives with a cool, herbal lift from absinthe, touched by the rounded softness of apricot and a thin wisp of incense that smells like ash from a censer left to smolder in a corner. It feels curated and a little severe, the kind of scent that makes people glance twice at your sleeve.

Around you, camelia and honeysuckle begin to unfurl, their creamy petals supported by a jasmine that is bright without turning sharp. The white floral accord feels polished, almost architectural, while the honey in the base draws the flowers together into something denser. Ambroxan and musk add a modern, slightly mineral warmth that keeps the flowers from floating away entirely, grounding the scene in a soft amber haze.

The limitation here is the sweetness. The honey and apricot lean heavy, and the floral heart does not quite cut through that syrup. On a humid evening the composition risks feeling cloying rather than refreshing, and the smoky accord stays faint, more a suggestion than a real counterweight. If you prefer airy, dry florals that stay light on the skin, this will feel overworked.
