Our take

Let's be honest: Croxatto Oud is trying to do too much, and the seams show. It opens with a bright, almost jarring burst of Calabrian bergamot and blackcurrant that feels lifted from a citrus cologne, but within minutes you're hit with the heavy hand of Indian oud and leather. The heart tries to bridge these extremes with cascarilla and tobacco, a spicy, dusty middle that never quite melds. Then comes the base, where sea notes crash awkwardly into the woody amber, creating a salt-and-oud brine that feels less like a coastal breeze and more like a shipwrecked cargo hold. The overall character is a bulky, synthetic-leather jacket lined with fruit-scented air freshener: ambitious, but not harmonious.

It wears heavy and leans aggressively synthetic, despite the natural-sounding ingredients. The longevity and sillage numbers (3.46 and 3.26) confirm it fades faster than you'd expect from such a loud opening, which is almost a relief. This is niche in intent but mainstream in execution, a fragrance that tries to be an all-weather warrior (it claims 100% winter approval) but ends up feeling confused. Who should wear it? Someone who wants a cheap thrill of oud without paying for the real thing, or a collector curious about that rare combo of marine notes and leather. Skip it if you prefer seamless blends or natural-smelling woods. Wear it on a cool evening when you're feeling adventurous and don't mind smelling like a dockside oud dealer's mistake.
