Character
Symbios opens with white woods and black elder brightened by a touch of tangerine. The fruit stays light and does not dominate the opening. White tobacco enters quickly with taif rose, ylang-ylang, lavender, jasmine and cedar. The flowers feel plush rather than sharp, and the lavender adds a calm, dry edge to the heart. Cedar keeps the floral mix from becoming too soft. Musk, patchouli, amber, tonka bean and balsam fir form a base that sits near the skin while the scent remains present for an extended period. The patchouli and amber give weight, and the tonka bean adds a gentle sweetness that lingers.
The overall character is woody, musky and sweet with a powdery finish. Rose and yellow florals lead the floral side, while a faint animalic trace gives the blend a slightly rugged feel. It suits someone who likes dense, floral woods and does not mind a noticeable sweetness. People who prefer clean, citrus-led scents or very dry profiles will find it too heavy. The mood fits a dimly lit room where warm air carries a thick floral haze.
Mark St Marie composed Symbios for The World In Scents in 2018. The fragrance feels at home once the sky goes dark and the lights are low. It stays close without fading, carried by musk and balsam fir that hold the flowers down. The result is a steady, intimate trail that follows the wearer through the night.
