Our take

The opening is a brisk slap of black pepper and cloves, with thyme and sage adding an aromatic, almost herbal bite. It feels sharp and medicinal at first, but within minutes the heart reveals itself: a dense resinous oud, dark and slightly barnyard, wrapped in a dusty patchouli and a whisper of rose that never turns sweet or jammy. The dry down softens into a musky amber base with vanilla and sandalwood, but the oud persists like a stubborn ghost, powdery and warm. This is an old merchant’s chest, cracked leather lining, a smear of dried blood on a gold coin, the scent of a story half told.

It wears heavy, leaning synthetic in its top notes but evolving into a surprisingly rounded, smooth resin. Longevity is strong at over four hours, sillage moderate enough to stay close without choking a room. It feels more niche than mainstream, unapologetically bold and uncompromising.

Who should wear it? Someone who wants to smell like a spice merchant who has seen empires fall. Skip this if you prefer airy citruses or shy florals. Wear it on cold days, autumn walks, or a winter evening when you need armor. It is not a fragrance for laughter, but for quiet authority.
