Our take

Fior di Salina opens with a snap of bergamot so bright it could cut the haze of a Sicilian morning, but the sea notes come fast, not clean and salty so much as briny and a little bitter. That initial citrus-aromatic blast is where the magic lives, before immortelle and galbanum creep in with their honeyed, resinous greenness. It smells like a sun-bleached fisherman’s sweater left on a volcanic rock, still damp, still carrying the ghost of yesterday’s catch. The iris adds a whisper of powdery restraint, but this is no contemplative floral. It’s a sprint, not a marathon. And that’s the problem. The longevity clocks in at a pathetic 2.62, the sillage barely a whisper at 2.39. Within an hour, you’re left with a faint, sweet herbal ghost, a memory of something that could have been a perfect Mediterranean escape. This is strictly a skin scent for the hottest summer afternoons, a quick spritz before a beach walk or a lunch on a shaded terrace. It suits anyone who loves natural, salty-green fragrances and doesn’t mind reapplying every ninety minutes. Skip it if you want presence, if you need a fragrance to outlast your iced coffee. Fior di Salina is a fleeting, lovely impulse, not a commitment.
