Our take

The door to the garden shed stands open, letting in a sharp breeze that carries the bright, bitter spray of squeezed grapefruit and bergamot. Green mandarin adds a fresh peel scent that mixes with the crisp bite of coriander. A few carnation petals rest on a wooden bench, their faint clove scent drifting through the air. Inside the small space, cinnamon sticks and fresh ginger root sit on a shelf, sending a dry, warming heat into the room. The floorboards creak underfoot, releasing the scent of cedar and sandalwood dust. Anise seeds spill from a jar, sharp and sweet at once, while vetiver and patchouli ground the air with an earthy, rooty weight. Musk settles into the worn cotton of a shirt sleeve, soft and close.

The entire room smells of spice and wood, bright citrus giving way to a powdery, floral warmth that clings to the tools and the timber walls. Nathalie Feisthauer composed this Cartier fragrance to feel like a walk through a cool grove where the trees are dusted with spice. The anise note weaves through the greenery like a thread of licorice root pulled from dark soil. It is a woody, aromatic space that feels complete with a mug of hot tea resting on the worktable.
