Our take

Adamas opens with a sharp, almost medicinal bite that can catch you off guard. The davana and rosemary hit first, bright and herbal, while ginger and citrus spark against the skin. It is a rough start that feels slightly unbalanced, as if the composition is trying to do too much at once. The pine and lavender in the heart do not smooth it out right away. Instead, the incense and black pepper push forward, creating a scratchy, resinous wall. The oud here is dense and dry, lacking the rounded softness found in more refined woody scents. It can feel aggressive rather than inviting, and the leather in the base adds a stiff, rigid texture that does not quite melt into the vanilla.

You stand in a stone courtyard as a cold wind moves through a row of evergreen trees, the air smelling of crushed needles and damp bark. Someone has lit a bundle of herbs nearby, the grey smoke curling around a worn leather jacket. The vanilla in the air is faint, overshadowed by the earthy vetiver underfoot and the heavy resin clinging to the wooden beams of the old cloister. It is a scent that matches the sound of boots on wet gravel and the sight of breath fogging in the crisp air, a rugged atmosphere where the sharp edges of the forest meet the dark, smoky interior of a quiet chapel.
