Our take

Dark Hollow opens with green leaves and fern that feel crisp and slightly damp. The green impression is immediate and leans more shaded than bright. Wild rose enters soon after and adds a soft floral layer that keeps the opening from feeling strictly like crushed vegetation. Oakmoss sits beside the rose and brings a faintly dry, earthy touch that anchors the heart. The transition from the green top to the floral heart is smooth and does not shift the mood dramatically.

The base is where the composition spends most of its time. Sandalwood and amber provide a warm, slightly resinous foundation, while oak and conifer add dry wood and a subtle needle-like edge. Musk rounds out the lower register with a clean, skin-like softness. The powdery facet from the accords becomes more noticeable here, sitting lightly over the wood and moss. The aromatic and fresh spicy notes linger in the background and prevent the base from becoming too heavy or too sweet.

The overall blend stays close to its chypre structure without offering much surprise along the way. The rose and oakmoss pairing is familiar, and the woody base follows a predictable path. It is a competent execution, but it lacks a distinct detail that would make the scent memorable beyond its reliable accord stack.
