Citta di Kyoto opens with a rush of hawthorn, hyacinth, and a clutch of citrus and florals that feel like a sudden spring shower on a stone temple path. That first blast is surprisingly bright and almost powdery, but the heart quickly turns woody and quietly spicy. Iris, cypress, birch, and a ghost of cinnamon and plum fold together into something more contemplative, like incense smoke curling through a silent garden. The dry down is where this fragrance earns its keep: sandalwood, Virginia cedar, orris, and a gentle amber vanille blend into a soft, slightly smoky musk that clings closer than you want it to.
The overall character is a single image: a weathered wooden shrine in Kyoto, damp with morning mist, petals scattered on the cobbles. It feels natural and reserved, decidedly niche in its quiet restraint, but there is a faintly synthetic edge to the iris powdery accord that keeps it from being completely transportive. Longevity and sillage are genuinely weak, about three hours and a whisper, which is the main disappointment for the price. This is best worn in fall or spring, during the daytime, by someone who enjoys subtle, woody florals and doesn't need a fragrance to announce itself. Skip it if you want projection or a bold statement. It is a shy, polite scent that rewards those who lean in close.
