The sun sits high over a wooden boardwalk that runs above a shallow cove. Salt spray drifts in on a breeze that carries the sharp, sour bite of fresh grapefruit and the prickly green snap of juniper berries. A few steps down, the air turns cooler near the water, where a realistic sea note mixes with the wet, mineral scent of ambergris and a bright slice of green apple. Orange blossom adds a clean white floral lift that keeps the air feeling open rather than heavy. The scent sits close to the skin in a way that feels natural for this setting, like the air itself has been perfumed rather than the person walking through it.
Benzoin brings a faint resinous warmth that tries to ground the composition, but the cypress base stays thin and never fully anchors the aquatic brightness. The aroma often leans on the synthetic side of its marine accord, giving the water note a slightly plastic edge that distracts from the crisp citrus. Composed by Domitille Michalon Bertier, this Jil Sander release captures a coastal mood well, yet the blend lacks the depth needed to feel complete once the initial fruit and salt settle.
