Our take

Coriander opens with a brisk, herbal bite that cuts through the heavy resinous base before the florals even surface. Ylang-ylang and jasmine arrive soft and slightly indolic, sitting close to the skin while the amber, labdanum, and incense build a warm, balsamic foundation beneath them. Sandalwood and musk smooth the edges, and vanilla adds a rounded sweetness that keeps the resin from feeling dry. The powdery accord gives it an old-school elegance, while the aromatic coriander prevents the florals from turning lush or cloying. It smells expensive in a quiet way, more suited to a dressing table than a department store counter, with a composition that feels deliberate rather than crowd-pleasing.

Frank Voelkl composed a scent that leans into resin and flower without hiding the tension between them. It works best on someone who enjoys amber that carries a floral heart rather than a plain sugary trail. Wear it during cooler evenings when the air is still, or choose it for a formal dinner where a classic oriental feels appropriate. It is not for anyone who wants a fresh, citrus-led daytime scent, and it will feel out of place in hot weather. Save it for autumn nights and winter gatherings where its warm, powdery character can sit comfortably against wool and silk.
