Our take

Zaad Arctic opens with a brisk slap of bergamot and grapefruit, the citrus gleaming like sunlight on a frozen lake. The ice and water notes are not the usual aquatic sweetness but a glassy, almost brittle freshness that quickly gives way to a heart of black tea and elemi, a combo that feels both smoky and clean. Cypress and geranium add a green, slightly peppery sharpness, like crushed pine needles underfoot. The base of amber, oakmoss, and cedar is dry and woody, but it never warms up much; this is a fragrance that stays cool to the touch.

The overall image is a man standing on a frosty dock in early spring, sipping cold black tea while the river thaws around him. It is crisp, aromatic, and largely synthetic in the best way, leaning into a clean, translucent freshness rather than anything heavy or gourmand. The accords are where the magic lives, especially that earthy moss and spicy elemi interplay. But there is a catch: longevity is a shrug at three out of five, and sillage barely whispers past arm’s length. This is a scent for the office, a Sunday morning walk, or a warm day when you want a cold breeze in a bottle. Skip it if you need to announce your arrival or haunt a room. Who does it suit? The guy who values freshness over projection, who would rather smell crisp than loud. One rhetorical question: if you are paying for a fragrance that vanishes in three hours, is that a glass-half-full or half-empty situation? For me, the clarity of that black tea and mossy cedar makes it worth the short visit.
