Our take

A small woodworking studio fills with late afternoon light as a fresh lemon peel hits the air. The bright citrus cuts through the dry dust of sawdust, immediately drawing attention to the workspace bench. Someone has just opened a jar of ground cinnamon and saffron threads, and the spice lands warm against the cool lemon. Jasmine and rose sit nearby in shallow bowls, their petals crushed just enough to release a soft floral weight. Orris adds a powdery root scent that settles into the wood grain of the table.

Cypriol rises from a pile of shavings, its earthy sharpness mixing with the heavy resin of gurjan balsam. Guaiac wood and sandalwood lean against the wall, giving off a dry, carved timber smell that deepens the room. Patchouli leaves rest in a corner, musty and dark, while vanilla pods and tonka beans spill across the bench. Their sweet, almost edible warmth wraps around the sharper woods, softening every edge in the space. Musk lingers on a wool jumper hung by the door, a clean fabric scent that holds the blend together.

The air stays thick with saffron and cinnamon, the spices clinging to the cedar shelves and the hands moving across the bench. Lemon fades into the background, letting the floral heart of jasmine and rose breathe between the wood piles. Orris continues to powder the air, making the whole room feel calm and slightly old-fashioned. Each breath carries a different layer, from the balsam resin to the patchouli earth, without any single element taking full control.

Sandalwood and guaiac wood remain the strongest presence, their carved timber scent anchoring the studio floor. Vanilla and tonka bean add a gentle sweetness to the dry planks and sawdust. Cypriol and patchouli keep the space grounded, while musk rests on the wool fabric near the window. The room smells of saffron, cinnamon, jasmine, rose, orris, cypriol, guaiac wood, gurjan balsam, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean, musk.
