A low-lit courtyard in late autumn is the perfect stage for Alexandria Fragrances’ Oriental Leather. The labdanum opens with a resinous, amber-like weight, immediately setting a warm, balsamic tone that feels heavy in the cool air. It doesn't take long for the heart to emerge, where a dusty rose and sharp saffron begin to twist through the sticky resin. The patchouli adds an earthy, green undertone that prevents the floral notes from becoming too lush. As the evening settles in, the base notes take hold. The oud here is prominent, offering a dry, woody character that melds with the creamy sandalwood and the sharper, dry bite of cedar. There is a distinct powdery quality that hangs over the entire composition, muting the sharper edges of the spice and wood. It creates a scent bubble that feels dense and opulent, surrounding the wearer in a mix of dark balsamic sweetness and smoky wood. The combination of rose and oud is classic, yet the labdanum pushes it toward a leathery, animalic direction without ever quite getting there.
