Our take

Zion opens like a fistful of citrus rinds crushed over a bed of bitter herbs. The grapefruit and lime are loud and unapologetically synthetic, backed by a green snap of galbanum and the dusty, almost medicinal tang of artemisia. It’s a sharp, aggressive entrance, as though the fragrance has something to prove. As it settles, the heart reveals a tangled mess of juniper and vetiver, with blackcurrant and apple lending a jammy, almost boozy sweetness that feels oddly at odds with the aromatic top. The rose and jasmine are barely detectable, buried under a cypriol funk that adds a dirty, earthy undercurrent. The drydown is where Zion finds its footing, softening into a smooth blanket of labdanum and vanilla, with leather and ambergris giving it a warm, slightly animalic body. If this fragrance were a place, it would be a spring market where a pile of citrus rinds sits next to a dusty leather saddle, and someone is brewing herbal tea nearby. It’s undeniably synthetic, leaning toward the high-end clone house aesthetic, and the projection is disappointingly close to the skin after an hour. Longevity clocks in at just over three hours, so reapplication is a must. Zion suits the guy who wants a bold, aromatic fougere for sunny afternoons but doesn’t mind running through a bottle quickly. Skip it if you prefer subtlety or any skin-hugging whisper that lasts through dinner. Perfect for a casual spring lunch outdoors where the scent will fizzle out before dessert arrives.
