Our take

Pink pepper snaps first, a sharp metallic pop that feels more like a warning than a greeting. It fades quickly into belladonna, and here is where the fragrance turns peculiar: belladonna is not a usual perfume note, it carries a green, slightly narcotic bitterness that smells like crushed leaves and old apothecary jars. There is no sweetness to cushion it until the ambergris begins to warm from underneath, salty and animalic, wrapping the bitterness in a salty-sweet, almost fleshy amber. The whole thing dries down to a sticky, balsamic skin scent with a faint fruity blur around the edges.

This is not a gentle floral. It is a winter night distilled into a single image: a woman in a wool coat, standing alone on a dark street, her lipstick slightly smudged, the air cold and sharp. The sillage is moderate (3.40) and the longevity just under four hours on most skin, which is a genuine weakness for something so dark and expensive. It feels mainstream in structure but slightly niche in its refusal to be pretty.

Wear it to a late dinner, a cocktail bar, a formal evening where you want to smell interesting rather than lovely. Skip it if you prefer clean laundry scents or anything that could be called fresh. One question lingers: why launch a fragrance this heavy in 2024, when the trend is toward airy transparency? Because some of us still want to smell like a risk.
