Our take

Il Proibito brings coconut, caramel, whipped cream, heliotrope, vanilla and tonka bean together in a dense, vanilla-led blend. The sweetness is prominent from the start, supported by a lactonic softness that makes the coconut and cream notes feel round rather than sharp. Heliotrope adds a gentle powdery touch that sits close to the other elements without pulling the composition in a floral direction. Caramel and vanilla carry most of the weight, while tonka bean reinforces the warm, rounded character that runs through the entire fragrance.

As the scent develops, the vanilla and tonka bean take on a larger role and the powdery side becomes more noticeable. The whipped cream and coconut ease into the background, leaving a smoother surface where heliotrope and caramel continue to soften the edges. The sweetness stays present but loses some of its initial brightness, settling into a warmer, more concentrated version of the same profile. The lactonic quality remains, though it feels more integrated and less distinct than it did alongside the first impression of coconut and cream.

The overall feel is cozy and enveloping, suited to cool days when a warm, sweet scent feels appropriate. It works well for someone who enjoys vanilla and coconut without wanting a fresh or airy interpretation. The powdery dryness from heliotrope keeps it from becoming heavy in a cloying way, making it a good choice for quiet evenings indoors or slow weekend mornings when the air is crisp and the light is low.
