Our take

A hot morning is the right place to test Elysium. Grapefruit, lemon, lime and bergamot pile citrus on citrus, thyme and artemisia adding an herbal bitterness, and galbanum cuts through with a sharp green snap instead of pure fruit sweetness. It is loud and bracing in a way few citrus colognes manage this early.

Vetiver, juniper and cedar move the heart into greener, more bitter territory, black currant and apple adding a fruity note without turning it sweet, and cypriol gives a deep, earthy undertone unusual here, rose and jasmine keeping that earthiness in check without smoothing it flat. Then the base changes everything: ambergris, leather and labdanum bring in real weight, benzoin adds a resinous sweetness, and vanilla is barely a whisper against the leather and amber. This late stage reads animalic and warm, a different fragrance from the citrus that opened it, dense where the top was thin.

It wears at an average pace, not built to go especially long, and its presence stays modest, close enough to reward someone standing near you more than it turns heads across an office. Best worn mornings through early afternoon in warm weather. What stays with you longest is the quiet leather and amber finish, animalic and warm, far from the sharp citrus that opened it.
