Our take

Bedestal opens with a sharp, almost abrasive citrus bite that can feel thin and screechy if you expect depth right away. The mandarin orange and grapefruit arrive loud and unpolished, skipping the smooth transition a careful blend would offer. This bright start does not hide its synthetic edge, and anyone hoping for a refined opening will notice the rough edges immediately.

Dominique Ropion built the heart around orange blossom and jasmine, adding a soft white floral layer that tries to calm the loud top notes. The sweetness grows as the flowers settle, meeting a base of patchouli, cedar, and vetiver that grounds the blend with dry wood. It smells like standing on a sunlit terrace in a city square, where fresh juice meets warm stone and the air carries both flowers and dry earth at once.

The accord works best for men who enjoy a crisp citrus scent with a woody backbone and do not mind a bright, slightly raw opening. Wear it while walking through open markets on a clear morning, when the sky is open and the air feels warm on your skin. It suits a relaxed day outdoors, paired with simple clothes and an easy pace.
