Our take

Salt crusts the wooden rail of a small boat drifting just offshore, warm air moving across the water while light breaks over the surface. A mineral shimmer sits in the air, soft and animalic, carried on a note that smells like pearls touched by spray. Sea salt settles into the chest of the scent, damp and clean, never sharp. Beneath it, white woods hold a pale structure that feels sun warmed rather than polished, and white amber adds a rounded, resinous weight that keeps the air from turning thin. The composition stays close to the skin, textured like wet grain and coastal air, with a salty accord that reads as open water rather than a bottled breeze.

Paul Guerlain built this for someone standing at the edge of the tide with sleeves rolled up, hair wind tossed, paying attention to the way light shifts across the waves. It fits a morning walk along the shore, a late afternoon on a dock, or any hour when the air feels wide and the water is near. Wear it when the day is warm enough to dry salt on the skin and the world feels uncluttered, bright, and slow.
