Our take

Boss Alive opens with a generous pour of vanilla extract, syrupy plum, and cinnamon that feels like a warm fruit compote bubbling on the stove. The apple and black currant add a tart edge, but the sweetness dominates from the first spray. Annick Menardo’s hand is clear here: she builds a dense, cozy aromatic that never quite lifts off. As the jasmine sambac and thyme creep in, the composition tightens into a woody, powdery core that sits close to the skin. The base of sandalwood, cedar, and olive tree turns this into a dry, slightly dusty woodpile, not quite soft enough to be a cuddle scent.

The overall character reminds me of an overstuffed armchair in a boutique hotel lobby: plush, familiar, but with a faint synthetic sheen that keeps it from feeling truly natural. It lands squarely in the mainstream sweet-woody space, and the numbers back that up. Longevity clocks in at a modest three out of five, sillage just under three; neither impressive nor offensive. This is for someone who wants a safe vanilla-fruit fragrance for crisp spring days or layered in autumn, and who doesn’t mind reapplying. Skip it if you crave projection, freshness, or anything beyond a polite bubble of warmth. Wear it to the office, a daytime brunch, or an afternoon walk when you want to smell pleasant without asking for attention.
