Wood Of Gods opens with saffron and almond. The saffron is metallic and dry, the almond smooth and powdery. Together they form a brief, oily introduction that feels dense rather than bright. The heart shifts into rose, mint, violet and lily-of-the-valley. The mint is cool and sharp, cutting through the rose, while the violet and lily-of-the-valley add a soft, soapy floral layer that sits above the spice.
The drydown is where the composition lives. Oud, patchouli, cypriol and musk take over with weight and heat. The oud is resinous and medicinal, the patchouli damp and dark, the cypriol smoky and mineral. Musk binds them into a thick, persistent trail that surrounds the wearer in a warm, resinous cloud. The rose from the heart lingers here, now dried and folded into the wood. This phase feels heavy and enclosed, suited to a dim room and a quiet evening where the air is still.
The mint and violet in the heart can feel synthetic against the natural weight of the oud and patchouli. That contrast creates a slight disjoint, as if two different fragrances were layered without fully merging. The scent also demands patience, because the opening is short and the most rewarding part takes time to arrive.
