L'Agent
Fragrance notes
Character
Pink pepper opens L'Agent with a bright, faintly bitter snap, ylang-ylang and palisander rosewood softening the edge almost immediately. Angelica underneath adds a green, root-like bitterness, and artemisia threads an herbal backbone through the sweetness, giving the opening a wild, untamed edge. The heart is where the fragrance earns its keep: may rose, tuberose, jasmine and osmanthus stack into something dense and heavy, geranium cutting through so the florals never turn saccharine. It sticks around, holding that dense floral shape long after the opening spice has faded into the background.
The drydown is the real subject here. Incense and myrrh move in first, resinous and churchy, before patchouli, amber and French labdanum thicken everything into something warm, dark and dense. Sandalwood and musk round off the resin's rough edges, and what is left by the end comes across powdery, balsamic and smoky, its floral opening long gone. The sillage gathers into a small, warm pocket around the wearer, noticed mostly by whoever leans in close enough to catch it. Wear it after dark, in fall and winter, somewhere the incense and rose can settle into skin instead of open air. The finish lands heavy and resinous, all incense and dark amber by the end, and it rewards patience over a quick spray before running out the door.
