Our take

Strip opens with a brisk bergamot that feels less like citrus zest and more like cold glass against bare skin, a fleeting introduction that quickly gives way to the perfume’s true architecture. The heart blooms into a powdery orris, a slightly sharp geranium, and a lush ylang-ylang that refuses to be demure, while the base layers in a smoked-out patchouli, dry vetiver, and an oakmoss that recalls vintage dressing tables. The whole effect is a floral woody musk that wears like a satin slip that’s been lightly singed at the hem. It is not sweet, not fresh, but rather a dry, ambered heaviness that clings close, with sillage and longevity hovering around average, which is honestly this scent’s biggest flaw; it asks for attention but doesn’t quite hold the room long enough to earn it.

This is a fragrance that feels as though it was poured from a bottle left on a nightstand in 2007, slightly synthetic in its powdery top, yet grounded by real earthy roots. It suits a woman who dresses for herself more than for applause, who appreciates the tension between raw patchouli and refined orris. Skip it if you crave projection or a sweet, crowd-pleasing hug; this one is a low-wattage whisper, best worn for a solo walk through autumn leaves or a quiet dinner when the chill demands amber and musk. Does it live up to the name? It pulls, but never strips the skin bare.
