Our take

Still opens on Earl Grey tea and rice, an unusual pairing that reads more like a tea ceremony than a typical citrus-fruit start. White pepper adds a faint prickle, and mandarin orange with apple bring a light fruit sweetness alongside the tea.

The heart is a dense stack of white flowers, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, freesia, honeysuckle, orange blossom and rose all layered together, more a bouquet than any single note standing out. It softens the tea-and-pepper opening into something rounder and more traditionally floral, a shift that takes the fragrance from unusual to fairly classic within its own development. Longevity holds at an average pace, comfortable and steady.

Pepper returns at the base alongside musk, sandalwood, iris and amber, giving the drydown a soft, powdery warmth with a last trace of spice carried over from the top.

It is most at ease in spring and summer daylight, when the tea-and-floral combination feels lightest. Sillage stays modest, a gentle bloom that suits close conversation more than a crowded room. Still is a quietly ambitious fragrance, more interesting at the top than the familiar white-floral heart that follows.
