Our take

Premier Figuier opens with a startling green snap, the fig leaf laced with asafoetida’s savory, almost sweaty twang. It’s a dissonant chord that quickly dissolves into the creamiest fig heart I’ve encountered. The almond milk here isn't a thin whisper — it’s a full, lactonic draping over sandalwood’s dry fluff, turning the fruit into something between a crushed leaf and a warm pudding. As it dries, coconut and dried fruits emerge, sweet but not cloying, like a sun-warmed rock pooling sticky sugar under a fig tree in August. That is the picture: a tree-shaded patch of earth, the breeze carrying sap and rot and a distant whisper of lime, all grounded by the wood beneath.

Olivia Giacobetti’s 1994 creation is quietly revolutionary — it smells neither synthetic nor aggressively natural, but like a memory of a Mediterranean garden you’ve never actually visited. The green, sweet, woody balance is elegant, but the longevity (2.77) and sillage (2.51) are frankly disappointing; this is a skin scent that vanishes after a couple of hours, leaving only a ghost of almond. It’s perfect for a lazy spring afternoon or a humid summer evening, best worn when you want to smell like you’ve just stepped out of the shade, not when you need to announce your presence. Skip it if you crave projection or a fragrance that outlasts a brunch. Everyone else: dab on extra — you’ll be glad to reappear as that fleeting, green-laced ghost.
