Our take

Seville a l’Aube opens with a bright, almost bitter flicker of petitgrain and olive blossom, green and slightly waxy, like snapping a twig off an Andalusian tree in early morning light. The heart unfurls into a dense, sticky swirl of orange blossom and beeswax, with lavender adding a barber shop cleanliness that never quite overpowers the tobacco’s dry, leafy warmth. Jasmine threads through like a white silk ribbon, while benzoin and olibanum in the base turn everything resinous and faintly liturgical. The overall impression is that of a sun-baked cathedral garden at dawn, where bees have already claimed the air and the last wisps of incense cling to your collar.

This is a natural, almost syrupy floral oriental, leaning sweet but grounded by aromatic green edges. It feels niche in intent but not challenging in execution, more like a well-worn leather journal than a manifesto. However, the longevity is a modest three and a half out of five, and sillage hovers close to the skin, so do not expect a room filler. It suits someone who wants a romantic, honeyed cloud that stays intimate, but those who crave projection or winter warmth should look elsewhere. Wear it on a mild spring afternoon or a sultry summer evening, when the air can carry its weight without smothering it.
