Champagne gives Dom Rosa its opening fizz, a bright, slightly yeasty sparkle laced with pomelo and pear before the effervescence settles into something calmer. The citrus stays tart rather than sweet, more grapefruit pith than juice, and that fade happens at an average pace. Once the bubbles are gone, what is left sits close to the skin, best caught by whoever is standing near enough to notice.
The heart is where it earns its keep: damask rose sweetened faintly by cloves and warmed by olibanum, giving the rose a resinous undertone with real depth to it. The cloves add a warm, faintly peppery bite, pulling the rose toward spice more than pure flower. Cedar, vetiver and guaiac wood settle in underneath, dry and slightly bitter, giving the whole composition a woody backbone under the fruit and flowers.
Wear it from spring through the start of fall, when the fruity sparkle and rose combination make the most sense; the cooler months call for something heavier and less effervescent. The aldehydic lift keeps the whole composition feeling dry and mineral, closer to sparkling water than a jam jar, and that dryness gives it a more mineral personality than a typical fruity rose, without losing the fruit entirely.
