Our take

Valentino built this one around just three materials: Calabrian bergamot, coffee and vetiver, and it shows. The bergamot opens bright and slightly bitter, sharper than most citrus openings because there is nothing sweet nearby to round it off. The coffee arrives almost immediately as a dark, roasted middle rather than a slow reveal, and vetiver closes it out dry and earthy. Nothing here lingers particularly long, and the presence stays private, settling into the skin quietly enough to pass as your own natural scent.

The simplicity is the point: this is coffee and vetiver stripped down to their essentials, without the vanilla or amber that usually cushions a coffee accord in other releases. The vetiver in particular does a lot of work, giving the coffee a damp, root-like grounding and keeping the overall impression closer to a plant than a drink. It works well for spring and summer daytime wear, when a light, dry coffee note feels most natural. The trade-off is scope: three notes leave little room for surprise, and the composition reveals everything it has within its opening moments.
