Pairing bitter grapefruit with sweet bergamot, Donna opens brighter and more citrus-forward than its powdery reputation might suggest. Iris and Bulgarian rose take over quickly, powdery and cool, with praline adding a soft, nutty sweetness alongside the flowers. Mahonial threads a faint, modern sharpness through the iris, pulling it toward something a little more contemporary.
Leather and patchouli arrive in the base, dry and earthy, with vanilla rounding the drier edges into something softer and warmer. Patchouli in particular gives it real depth by the drydown, more earthy than sweet, a grounding note under all that powder.
Staying power lands in the moderate range, holding for a fair stretch before thinning into something softer and powdery. Projection is a modest bubble, present without ever crowding the people around you. Fall is where it shines brightest, though spring and winter both hold up well too, and it adapts easily to both daytime plans and a dinner occasion.
Sonia Constant and Antoine Maisondieu built an iris that leans citrus and leather rather than the usual carrot-root starkness, warmer and easier to wear than that description implies. It reads as more collected than showy, an iris built around texture, not volume.
