Bertrand Duchaufour built a structure that moves from that crisp, aromatic lift into a dense core where geranium and peony soften the resinous edges. The base gathers patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, and sandalwood beneath a layer of benzoin and amber. Castoreum brings a leathery, animalic depth that keeps the vanilla from reading as sweet. It is a scent that fits a cold evening walk through wet streets, when the air is sharp and the sky is dark, or a quiet indoor gathering where the room feels sealed against the season outside.
The blend stays complex across its development, shifting between spicy, floral, and woody tones without losing its central thread. It suits someone who enjoys traditional oriental materials handled with a modern, slightly abstract touch. The aldehydes keep it from feeling too heavy, but the castoreum and oakmoss give it a rugged, earthy character that not everyone will welcome. Those who prefer clean, transparent compositions or anything that leans youthful and light should avoid it. The animalic base can feel aggressive on skin that does not hold resinous notes well, and the rose may read more medicinal than romantic to some wearers.
