This initial roughness is the fragrance's main drawback, as it lacks the smooth transition found in more polished compositions. The heart brings some relief through a dusty incense note, but the raspberry and rose here are sweet and candied rather than fresh. It is a heavy, resinous floral that demands patience from the wearer while the sharper top notes settle down.
Once the composition settles, the base reveals a dense, balsamic character. Labdanum and amber provide a sticky, golden sweetness that anchors the entire structure. Patchouli adds an earthy depth, while cedar and musk offer a dry contrast to the sugary resin. The smoky accord from the incense lingers, weaving through the woody foundation to create a warm, enveloping texture.
