Our take

Al Abbas is a fragrance for the person who wants to be noticed in a crowded, dimly lit room. It opens with a sharp, metallic raspberry and saffron that immediately signals a departure from clean, office-appropriate scents. The iris provides a powdery, vintage veil over the fruit, creating a tension that feels deliberate rather than accidental. This is not a casual spritz for a sunny afternoon walk. It demands a setting where the air is thick and the lighting is low, matching the energy of a late evening where conversations happen in close quarters.

The heart reveals a sticky caramel and litchi combination that pushes the composition toward a gourmand profile, but the ginger adds a necessary bite. It prevents the sweetness from becoming a flat, sugary line. Instead, the scent feels like a heavy silk curtain, rich in texture and difficult to see through. The ginger sparks against the candy-like notes, giving the wearer an edge that cuts through the obvious dessert comparisons.

Composed by Shadi Samra, the base is where the argument solidifies. The Indian oud and patchouli are dark and earthy, anchoring the sweet top layers to a ground that feels ancient and serious. Black musk and labdanum lend an animalic growl to the amber and vanilla, ensuring the fragrance retains a masculine gravity even as the tonka bean tries to soften the edges. It is a complex, heavy construction.

The result is a scent that fits perfectly against the backdrop of a cold night, standing out against the dark fabric of a heavy coat. It suits the wearer who finds comfort in intensity and prefers a scent that feels like a second skin, layered and deep, rather than a fleeting mist
