Our take

It opens with a lurch of green — galbanum’s bitter resin and the rubbery sap of fig, all propped up by cypress’s sharp, cathedral spine. You expect the vanilla to bulldoze through, but it doesn’t. Instead, mastic and lentisque introduce a honeyed, almost lactic dryness, while ylang ylang flutters like a silk scarf caught in a dusty attic window. The sandalwood gives it a soft, creamy scaffolding, and then the vanillas arrive: Bourbon and Tahitian, but not as gooey bourbon bombs. They’re powdered, lightly smoked, wrapped in benzoin’s caramelized incense and a whisper of amberwood that keeps things from tipping into dessert territory.

The overall effect is a greenhouse at dusk, where ripe figs sweat on the vine beside a bowl of vanilla pods dusted with resin. It feels quietly niche, not screaming for attention — and the numbers back that up. Longevity is modest, sillage is intimate. You’ll want to reapply, but that also makes it companionable rather than bossy.

This suits someone who loves vanilla but finds most vanilla scents too thick or cloying. Skip it if you need projection or a ten-hour workday performer. Wear it in spring or fall, especially on a cool, overcast afternoon when a touch of sweetness feels like a secret. A gentle, clever camouflage — but have you ever worn a camouflage that actually wanted to be noticed?
