Our take

Potato sits at the centre of Outback Sapphire and sets it apart from every other rose-led scent nearby. It gives the fragrance a damp, soil-like weight that pulls the rose oil and iris down into the earth instead of letting them float. Jasmine and tuberose add a creamy white floral layer that feels thick rather than airy. Oud and tobacco bring a dark, dry smoke that rubs against the sweetness of amber and ambrette. Mint and lime cut through the heavier notes with a cool snap that keeps the blend from turning sluggish. Orchard blossom and cardamom add a gentle lift that flickers through the woody base of cedar, sandalwood, Brazilian rosewood and oak. Moss spreads a green, shaded carpet under everything else. The powdery facet from iris and rose oil softens the sharper edges without erasing them.

The overall impression is of a garden after rain, where damp earth meets faded flowers and old timber. Wear it during cool evenings when the air feels heavy and still. It fits someone who likes their florals rooted in dirt and wood, not polished and bright.
