Our take

The lights are low in a wood-paneled library, and a crackling fireplace sends faint curls of smoke into the air. Silenzio by Simone Andreoli lives in this room. Nutmeg and Bulgarian rose open the door, the spice warm and the flower soft, never sharp. Guaiac wood and leather take a seat near the hearth, dry and textured, while vanilla and benzoin rest in the background like a heavy wool blanket. The scent stays near the body, moving with you as you reach for a book, present but never announcing itself across the space.

This is a vanilla that leans resinous rather than sugary, supported by an animalic edge that feels intimate in the dim light. The smoke from the accord hangs in the air around the wearer, mixing with the powdery rose until the line between skin and room blurs. It remains present for a good portion of the evening, lingering on the collar of a coat as the night continues. The atmosphere is amber and wood, suited to a quiet dinner or a walk under bare trees.

The composition is dense, and that weight is also its challenge. The leather and benzoin create a thick sweetness that can feel heavy if the air is warm. It demands a certain mood and a stillness from the person wearing it, as the resinous base does not lift or brighten on its own.
