Character
Reality opens with a sharp spray of blood orange that carries the metallic edge of aldehydes. Sea water sits underneath the citrus, adding a cool, saline layer that keeps the opening from feeling purely sunny. The initial impression is bright and slightly effervescent, with the aldehydes providing a clean, soapy lift that complements the fruit.
The heart introduces cedar and neroli, where the wood offers a dry contrast to the orange. Pepper adds a distinct, fresh spicy sting that runs through the middle phase. As the composition moves forward, the base begins to exert its influence. Amber and vanilla provide a warm, sweet foundation, while vetiver contributes an earthy, grassy depth. Tonka bean and musk round out the lower register, creating a powdery, musky trail that leans heavily into the amber.
The blend of vanilla, tonka, and amber gives the drydown a thick, sweet richness that can feel heavy against the saline opening. The powdery facet from the musk and aldehydes combines with the sweetness to create a texture that may seem cluttered to those who prefer a leaner aromatic. The pepper and cedar struggle to cut through the dense base, leaving the brighter top notes as a memory rather than a constant companion.
