Our take

Petit Trianon can feel disjointed when the notes do not quite agree. The ginger and the black spruce pull in different directions, and the result is a composition that sometimes loses its thread. It is not a seamless blend, and the transitions between the elements are not always smooth. The frankincense and the lavender add their own weight, but they do not always unify the different parts of the scent.

The ambrette and the African orange flower sit beside jasmine sambac and neroli in a mix that is woody, aromatic, and white floral all at once. The citrus and the fresh spicy facets are clear, yet the balsamic and amber accords make the overall impression heavier than the flowers suggest. It is a musky and floral scent that does not settle into a single clear identity. The variety is present, but the focus is not.

This lack of cohesion is the reason some wearers will set it aside. The individual materials are good, but the way they interact can be messy on the skin. It is a fragrance that asks patience while it figures out its own direction. For those who want a clear path from start to finish, this one may prove too scattered to enjoy.
