Our take

Salome opens with a bright, almost confrontational spritz of bitter orange and bergamot, a citrus flash that promises nothing sweet. That freshness curdles quickly as hyrax and cumin push forward, and you realize this is not a perfume that wants to be liked. The heart is a tangle of white flowers jasmine, orange blossom, and Turkish rose, but they are smothered by tobacco and carnation, dusted with something feral. The dry down is where the real story lives: castoreum and oakmoss stretch out like wet leather left in the autumn woods, with hay and patchouli adding a dry, smoky warmth and vanilla barely softening the edges. This is a chypre floral that behaves like a beast in a silk gown.

The overall character is a single vivid image: a woman in a crushed velvet robe, standing in a damp field at dusk, her lipstick smeared, her eyes unblinking. It feels heavy, deeply natural, and unapologetically niche, the kind of composition that makes mainstream gourmands seem like cheap candy. The longevity is excellent, easily eight hours, but the sillage is moderate, hovering close like a secret you can’t quite shake. It suits those who are comfortable with discomfort, who want their perfume to smell like sex and dirt and old churches. Skip it if you prefer clean laundry or polite florals.

Wear it in fall or winter, preferably at night, when the air is cold enough to crackle against its animalic warmth. It will bloom in a crowded bar or a silent bedroom, but never in an office. One question lingers: do you want to smell dangerous, or just interesting?
