Our take

Rock Princess opens with a sticky blur of raspberry and peach, the kind of candied fruit that sticks to your fingers and refuses to wash off. Bergamot tries to cut through but gets swallowed by the sweetness. Within minutes, the heart blooms into a powdery heliotrope and a polite bouquet of lily, rose, and jasmine, all blunted and smoothed to a cottony finish. The dry down lands on cashmere wood and coconut, a milky, musky base with iris dusting everything like face powder.

The overall character is a velvet scrunchie with a plastic rhinestone clasp: it wants to be edgy but ends up being sweet, soft, and vaguely nostalgic. This is a mainstream floral fruity through and through, built for the teenage mall three-day weekend, not a punk show. Calice Becker dialed down the rock to zero and turned up the vanilla-tinged comfort.

It wears close to the skin with a sillage that barely fills a car’s backseat, and the longevity is a letdown at just a few hours. Reapplication is mandatory. That said, it suits someone who wants a gentle, pretty scent that doesn’t announce itself, especially in fall or winter when the coconut and musk feel cozier. Skip it if you crave projection or anything with real grit. Wear it to brunch, to class, to a daytime date where the goal is to be pleasant, not provocative. Rock Princess is less a rebellion and more a permission slip to stay in bed.
