Our take

The fruit in the opening is real, not candy-shop. Passionfruit brings a tart, pulpy brightness that cuts through the apple’s crisp sweetness, stopping the start from feeling heavy. That lift does not last long. The heart pulls the scent straight into darker territory, where chocolate and violet meet. The chocolate here is dry and slightly bitter, more cocoa powder than dessert, while the violet lays a soft, powdery veil across the flowers. Jasmine adds a fresh, slightly indolic white floral hum, but the pepper is what keeps the middle from turning plush. It is a sharp, cracking heat that sits on the tongue of the scent, keeping the flowers and the cocoa from blending into something too smooth.

The base is where the fabric gets its weight. Oud arrives with a damp, woody sourness that feels grounding rather than medicinal, and sandalwood smooths the edges of that sharpness with a dry, pale creaminess. Amber and vanilla are present, but they are not the star. They act like a warm light held under the darker notes, pulling the oud and the chocolate together without making the blend sticky. The overall effect is a fruity-oriental that stays more dry than it has any right to be. It smells like a city sidewalk after a cold rain, when the air is crisp but the cafes are steaming up their windows.

Desigual built this for a man who likes his gourmands with a backbone of wood and spice. It has the confidence to walk into a room without needing to shout, and the kind of texture that feels expensive without trying too hard. The pepper and the oud make sure it never leans fully into the sweet or the powdery, so it stays interesting on the skin even as the warmer notes settle in. It is a scent for a heavy knit sweater and a leather jacket, for the kind of evening that starts with a drink and ends with a long walk under streetlights.
