N°11 Jus d'Apollon opens with bright bergamot and mandarin orange that feel polished rather than juicy. Palisander rosewood adds a dry, slightly rosy timber to the citrus, steering the entrance away from a standard summer splash. The opening smells like sunlight hitting a wooden terrace rail that has been freshly oiled.
Lavender enters with the vetiver and cedar, creating a heart that is aromatic and woody at once. The lavender carries a clean, almost soapy edge that pairs well with the grassy depth of vetiver. Tonka bean and patchouli anchor the base, bringing a sweet, earthy warmth that leans amber and musky. The patchouli here is rich and dark rather than dusty.
The composition stays cohesive from the first spray to the final drydown, moving smoothly through its layers without any harsh jumps. Denis Durand composed a fragrance that feels rooted in traditional chypre structure while using modern materials.
