Our take

Rose du Matin is a fragrance built for someone who wants a rose that behaves like a forest floor. The opening makes the case immediately. Red and May roses arrive with bergamot, but the Pink Himalayan sea salt and moss pull them away from a garden path and into cool, damp air. It is not a bright or dewy rose. The salt gives the petals a mineral edge that feels closer to stone than to flower water.

The heart continues the argument with white rose, lavender, and Egyptian pelargonium. Jasmine and tuberose are present, yet they never take over. The lavender keeps the florals dry and aromatic instead of sweet, while the pelargonium adds a green, slightly peppery leafiness. This is where the composition proves it is not a traditional bouquet. The flowers here are surrounded by air and wood, not arranged in a vase.

The base settles into palisander rosewood, mahogany, cedar, and sandalwood, with oakmoss, benzoin, amber, and ambergris supporting the remaining rose. The wood is dark and polished, the moss earthy, the balsamic notes warm but restrained. It suits cooler days and evenings when you want something floral that still feels grounded and masculine. The entire composition smells like a single rose growing through the cracked timber of an old wooden deck overlooking a cold gray sea.
