Woody by Arabian Oud opens with a blast of raw agarwood, that bitter, medicinal funk that makes oud lovers’ pupils dilate. It’s not polite. The rose and patchouli arrive quickly, softening the edge into something powdery and warm, like dried petals crushed into a clay pot. The dry down settles into a soft musk and amber haze, comfortable but never sweet. This is a fragrance that wears like a well-worn leather jacket: familiar, slightly rugged, and quietly confident. It feels natural enough, though the rose has a synthetic shimmer that keeps it from being truly photorealistic.
The overall character is a camel-hair blanket thrown over a splintered oud log. It’s heavy enough for winter, where it gets full marks from the crowd, but it also works in spring and fall. Summer is a stretch. Longevity sits at a modest 3.68, meaning you’ll need to reapply by midday if you want it to last through dinner. Sillage is similarly restrained at 3.48, so it stays close, a whispered secret rather than a shouted announcement. That makes it ideal for office wear or intimate evenings, but skip it if you want to fill a room.
