Peccatum
Fragrance notes
Character
Peccatum opens with Damask rose and saffron. The rose carries a fresh, slightly dewy quality that the saffron immediately warms with a dry, medicinal edge. This pairing sets a tone that is rich without becoming sweet, leaning into spice rather than sugar.
The heart introduces leather, incense, tobacco, patchouli, labdanum, and a mineral accord. Leather dominates here, textured and slightly animalic, while incense adds a resinous smoke. Tobacco rounds the blend with a soft, cured-leaf depth, and patchouli brings an earthy weight that grounds the brighter opening notes.
Vetiver and amber in the base reinforce the leather, giving the composition a dry, woody finish. The amber adds a low, golden warmth that sits beneath the sharper vetiver. Together, these elements create a dense, resinous trail that stays close through cool air and dim lighting.
The mineral and animalic facets can feel abrasive on skin that prefers clean, soapy scents. This roughness limits its appeal for daily wear, especially for those who find heavy, earthy compositions overwhelming after a few hours.
