This is a fragrance that starts with a chaotic, generous fistful of spice and citrus. Nutmeg and coriander tangle with pineapple and apple, all bright and aggressively fruity, before the florals take over. The drydown settles into a woody leather cushioned by iris and tonka, soft and undeniably pleasant, but never quite as bold as the top notes promised. It feels like a carefully pressed suit jacket left draped over a chair at a hotel bar, elegant but a little too polite to leave a strong impression. The sillage is disappointing, hovering around 2.83, and longevity barely stretches past three hours. You will have to overspray or reapply, which dampens the joy of wearing it. This fragrance suits a man in his forties or older who wants to smell clean, refined, and slightly sweet without screaming for attention. Skip it if you crave projection or a modern edge. Wear it to a spring wedding or a long lunch, somewhere the conversation matters more than the scent trailing behind you. Canali Men is a well cut blazer with no lining, comfortable but thin.
