Rose and labdanum enter soon after, adding a resinous weight that pushes the composition toward something ancient and heavy. The oud here is animalic and loud, refusing to sit quietly beneath the sweeter elements. The proper setting for this is a dim room with wood paneling and cold air pressing against the windows. The benzoin and patchouli in the base provide a deep, earthy sweetness that pairs with the musk to create a skin-like warmth against that chill. If you usually reach for clean citrus or soft florals, the animalic oud and sour fruit here will feel abrasive and out of place.
