Our take

Siam Flamboyant opens with a bright flash of mandarin and a prickly whisper of white pepper, but the citrus is quickly swallowed by a creamy wave of frangipani and orange blossom. It lands on skin like a cup of overly sweetened jasmine tea left to cool in a humid room, the bourbon vanilla and benzoin turning everything into a warm, powdery haze. This is a fragrance that wants to be tropical, but the base notes drag it into a thick, almost cloying sweetness that feels more suited to a winter evening than a summer afternoon. The numbers bear this out: it performs best in fall and winter, yet the sillage sits at a disappointing 2.84, barely audible beyond arm’s length, and longevity barely clears three hours. It is a shame, because the heart has a lovely, natural-feeling frangipani that could have shimmered. Instead, it gets smothered by a heavy-handed vanilla that feels more mainstream gourmand than the niche composition its perfumers deserve.

This is a scent for someone who wants a soft floral cloud they can reapply without offending anyone, a quiet comfort fragrance for a cozy afternoon at home or a low-key weekday brunch. Skip it if you crave projection, complexity, or anything that dares to last past lunch. The only real question is whether a perfectly pleasant but fleeting floral-vanilla is worth the price of admission for a scent that evaporates before the day settles. It is a pretty wilted orchid on a cold windowsill, lovely in theory but fading fast.
